Bulletin #043 - Amarni Tragedy: Lifeguard Admits Error

A lifeguard admitted today having a lapse of judgment during a school outing in which eight-year-old Amarni Dirani drowned.

Amarni was found on the bottom of the Olympic pool at the Glenbrook Swim Centre on December 16, 2006.

She had been among 200 students from Cambridge Gardens Public School on the excursion which was supervised by 15 teachers, four teachers' aides and four lifeguards.
